Rev. Willie Taplin Barrow, D.D.

Rev. Willie T. Barrow serves as corporate consultant and chairman of the Rainbow/Push Coalition, Inc. in Chicago. One of the nation’s most influential leaders, Rev. Barrow was honored in Crain’s Who’s Who in Chicago business for three consecutive years.  Fondly called the “little warrior,” she has been on the front lines of the civil rights movement worldwide.  Rev. Barrow was an organizer for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the ‘60s Civil Rights Movement.  She was instrumental in organizing the historical March of Selma, Alabama, and conducted voter registration drives for Dr. King.  In February 1990, while leading a delegation in South Africa, she witnessed the release of Nelson Mandela.  She also traveled to China, Canada, Korea, Turkey, North Vietnam and Southeast Asia advocating moral issues.  Rev. Barrow has received more than 500 awards and appeared in numerous publications acknowledging her dedication to social justice.  A powerful motivator, her schedule is booked with speaking engagements at universities and colleges, churches, women’s groups, conventions, labor organizations, and civic associations.  She is the godmother of 128 children.

Rev. Barrow is the author of the new book, How to Get Married and Stay Married.  She was married 56 years to Clyde Raymond Barrow until his death in 1998.  “You need to know why marriage is a blessing, not a burden,” she says.
